Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study development and situation of Buddhist knowledge management, to study factors supporting the success in Buddhist knowledge management and to propose the means for Buddhist knowledge management in Pariyattidhamma general education schools in Thailand. Methodology was the qualitative research collected data from 12 key informants, purposefully selected from 4 regions, one school from each region, and 9 experts totally 22 key informants by face-to-face-in-depth-interviewing. Data were analyzed by descriptive interpretation.
Findings were as follows: Development and situations of Buddhist knowledge management of 4 Phrapariyattidhamma general education schools emphasized cooperative knowledge management of personnel based on sufficiency, background of knowledge and appropriateness of learners who were ordained monks, promoting secular and religious knowledge related to 4 areas of knowledge creation with the purpose of Buddhist inheritor building to maintain and disseminate Buddhism to the society.
Direction of Buddhist knowledge management was to manage Buddhist and academic knowledge consisting of; 1) Buddhist knowledge, teaching and laws, 2) knowledge in learning group, 3) knowledge of folk wisdom, 4) knowledge of 21 century based on universal knowledge management consisting of awareness, knowledge seeking, knowledge exchange, knowledge storage, knowledge dissemination and knowledge application integrating with specific Buddhist knowledge management by way of Pariyat, education, Patipatti, practice and Pativetha, enlightenment. These factors were mechanism, related to personal, organizational and Buddhist factors that drove the Buddhist knowledge management to the excellent and sustainable knowledge management in Phrapariyatthidhamma general education schools.
