Abstract
In the smart transformation era, this study investigates the impact of the Learning University Library Model on University Library Performance, with the Smart Library serving as a mediating factor. The aim is to propose effective strategies to significantly enhance library performance by addressing three primary objectives: 1) To identify the critical factors influencing the construction and performance of Guangxi’s Learning University Libraries and to provide both theoretical and empirical support for optimizing library management; 2) To explore the intrinsic relationship between the Guangxi Learning University Library Model and University Library Performance, revealing the mechanisms and pathways through which performance is enhanced; 3) To investigate the mediating variables and the significant influence of the Guangxi Learning University Library Model on University Library Performance through the Smart Library, providing a scientific basis for the application and promotion of Smart Library concepts.
This study adopts a quantitative research approach, and a carefully designed questionnaire was distributed to leaders and department heads of 40 university libraries in Guangxi, resulting in 437 valid responses. During data analysis, SPSS software was utilized for data preprocessing and descriptive statistical analysis to outline each variable’s distribution characteristics and basic relationships. Additionally, the structural equation modeling (SEM) technique was employed to analyze the causal relationships between variables, verify the research hypotheses, and explore the interaction mechanisms among various factors, offering strong scientific evidence and practical guidance for the intelligent transformation of libraries and the optimization of management strategies.
The findings indicate that the Smart Library acts as a key mediator, significantly boosting the positive impact of the Learning University Library Model on University Library Performance. Learning and technology factors emerged as the primary drivers of performance improvement, while resources, personnel, and organizational factors also played essential roles. Based on these results, the study recommends prioritizing learning and technological innovation in the smart transformation of university libraries in Guangxi while also optimizing resources, personnel, and organizational structures to create synergies that maximize library performance. This research not only enriches the interdisciplinary field of Smart Library and Learning Organization Theory but also provides theoretical references and practical guidelines for the smart development of university libraries in Guangxi, holding strategic importance for promoting the sustainable development of library services.
