Abstract
Nigeria’s journey towards economic development, peace, and stability is intertwined and linked together. Despite positive economic growth and development in the country, Nigeria is faced with persistent conflicts and instabilities. This research investigated complexities in the relationships between economic development and peace stability achievement in Nigeria, while examining perspectives of policymakers, different economists, conflict resolution experts, community leaders, and individuals. Applying a mixed-methods research design that included semi-structured interviews and survey, the research identified major themes in economic development and peace and stability in Nigeria. In the survey of the research, a questionnaire was distributed online via Microsoft to a sample of 384 participants. It was revealed that Nigeria’s economic development have witnessed both the positive and negative impacts on peace and stability and as such it is imperative that the government and other related bodes both international and domestic stands up in addressing the issues that cripple the stability and peace of the country. The research results indicate the need for Nigeria government and major stakeholders to prioritize
education, healthcare, and infrastructure development as these are key contributors to a peaceful and growing society.
