Abstract
This research paper examined the impact of employee empowerment that has on job satisfaction with specific reference to Diamond Bank PLC. Employee empowerment is instrumental in achieving organizational performance because employees render the service. Investing in them is investing in the improvement of the services provided.
The objective of this study is to determine the impact of employee empowerment that has on job satisfaction in Diamond Bank PLC. The study also investigated the different levels of job satisfaction of male and female employees. The study covered two branches of Diamond Bank PLC in the state capital (Owerri) of Nigeria. This is because the two branches are in the center of the capital where massive transactions are been carried out.
The sample size of the study consisted of all the full-time staff in the two selected branches. The study used primary and secondary data. Questionnaires were distributed to fifty employees across the two branches of Diamond Bank and all were returned.
Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the data. The study found that employee empowerment has a positive and significant impact on job satisfaction. It recommended that Diamond Bank should continue to promote teamwork of employees; so that every staff regardless of gender would work towards a common vision of achieving the bank’s objectives. Diamond Bank PLC should also adopt empowerment practices such as facilitation of training towards employee’s professional and technical skills that are relevant to their work and changing world.
