Abstract

The objectives of this study are: 1) to find out the factors of board capital investment on the technological innovation performance of high-tech enterprises; 2) to explore the effect between board capital and technological innovation resources and the quality of technological innovation strategy of high-tech enterprises; and 3) to explore how technological innovation resources and the quality of technological innovation strategy affect technological innovation performance. This study adopted the quantitative research method. In this study, a total of 450 questionnaires were distributed, with 401 valid questionnaires recovered. The validity rate of the questionnaire is 89.11%. The population was the members of the board at high-tech enterprises in Shandong Province. Together, structural equation modeling is constructed, and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) is used to test the hypotheses.

The results show that there are effects on each variable relationship: 1) The human capital of the board (HCB), the board social capital (SCB), and the board institutional capital (ICB) affect the innovation performance of high-tech enterprises; 2) The level of human capital of the board of directors has a significant positive impact on the acquisition of resources and on the quality of strategic decisions. The level of social capital of the board of directors cannot have a significant impact on the acquisition of resources. There is a significant positive impact of the social capital of the board of directors on the quality of strategic decisions. There is no positive impact of the institutional capital of the board of directors on the acquisition of resources, and the institutional capital of the board has a significant positive effect on the quality of technological innovation strategic decisions. 3) Technological innovation resource acquisition has a significant positive effect on technological innovation performance. Technological innovation strategic decision-making quality has a significant positive effect on technological innovation performance.
