Abstract

Supply disruptions in international sourcing have increasingly challenged electronics manufacturers’ ability to maintain stable operations, particularly when shocks cascade across regions, suppliers, and logistics channels. For Mingrui Electronics, recurring volatility in lead times, supplier reliability, and cross-border compliance pressures has made supply chain resilience a managerial priority rather than a secondary performance attribute. Resource Dependence Theory provides a useful lens for explaining how reliance on external resource holders can create vulnerability and how supplier selection and governance choices can reduce uncertainty and strengthen continuity outcomes. The objectives of this study were to examine the relationships between supplier geographic diversification, quality assurance protocols, suppliers’ financial stability and supply chain resilience of Mingrui Electronics.
A quantitative, cross-sectional survey design was used. The study population consisted of Mingrui employees with direct involvement in international suppliers and disruption-related activities across procurement, supply chain planning, quality management, logistics, and supporting functions. A stratified purposive sampling approach was applied to ensure functional representation, and 180 questionnaires were distributed through an internal online platform; 168 were returned and 160 valid responses were retained for analysis. A structured questionnaire with demographic items and five multi-item Likert scales, five items per construct, measured supplier geographic diversification, quality assurance protocols, suppliers’ financial stability, and supply chain resilience. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Cronbach’s alpha, KMO and Bartlett’s test, Pearson correlation analysis, and regression modeling to test the hypotheses.
The findings showed that all three supplier-related criteria were positively associated with supply chain resilience. Quality assurance protocols exhibited the strongest relationship with resilience, indicating that disciplined supplier qualifications, audit rigor, documentation readiness, and corrective action closure are central to sustaining continuity and enabling fast, safe switching during disruptions. Supplier geographic diversification also demonstrated a meaningful positive association, suggesting that reducing regional concentration expands substitution options and mitigates correlated disruption exposure. Suppliers’ financial stability was positively related to resilience as well, implying that financial screening and early-warning monitoring reduce vulnerability to supplier-side operational failure.
The study concludes that Mingrui should strengthens resilience by managing upstream dependence through structured diversification, robust quality governance, and systematic supplier financial risk controls. Mingrui should implement resilience-oriented supplier scorecards, standardize “fast-switch-ready” quality protocols, rebalance regional sourcing for critical inputs, and institutionalize supplier financial monitoring to improve continuity and recovery performance.
