Abstract
This study examined how trade tensions between the US and China are causing multinational firms to adjust to growing geopolitical risks. The study explored changes in sourcing tactics, including the implementation of the “China Plus One” model and the expanding significance of nations like Vietnam and India, using secondary data and industry case studies. Important conclusions point to a shift towards digitalisation, supply chain resilience, and diversity, particularly in high-impact industries like consumer products and electronics. The study also points out that small and medium-sized businesses encounter several obstacles, but giant corporations are better able to adjust. Business executives and politicians can use the insights from the research findings to navigate the increasingly unpredictable global trade climate.
Interest in alternative manufacturing centers has increased as a result of this change, with nations like Vietnam and India becoming more alluring locations for supply chain relocation. The study also highlights the increasing importance of digital technologies, automation, and regional trade agreements in creating more robust supply networks. These advancements point to a fundamental shift in the way multinational corporations handle operational flexibility, risk, and expense in a trade environment that is becoming more unstable.
